Sony Alpha 7S III
The Sony A7s III is the long overdue renewal of Sony's Supreme or just S series. What remains is a sensor resolution of "only" 12 megapixels, which is aimed primarily at filmmakers and low-light photographers. The full-frame sensor has been further optimized and is now using backside illumination (Exmor R).
For filmmakers, there is a 4K video mode with up to 120 fps (slow motion), an extended ISO range and a modern USB-C connection for permanent power supply on longer sessions.
The Sony Alpha 7S III has two memory card slots, each of which can hold a SD memory card (UHS-II support) or a type A CFexpress memory card. The Type B CFexpress cards, used by almost all other camera manufacturer, are not compatible with the A7s III.
Fortunately, CFexpress memory cards are not necessary anyway: Thanks to the new BIONZ XR image processor, the Sony A7s III achieves an impressive 270MB/s with UHS-II-capable SD memory cards! However, Video Speed Class V60 or higher is required for normal 4K video recordings – corresponding SD cards are marked with an label. For slow-motion und All-Intra recordings (XAVC S-I), Sony even requires Class V90 cards which are marked by an label.
